Taking control of my life. (for real this time.)

Hi :)

Today's blog post is:

*insert drum roll here*

My own 10 steps to feel good about yourself!
I wrote this for me, but feel free to use my list for yourself :')

1. Announce goals to the world in order to motivate yourself to do them. (that's what I'm doing now)

2. Eat more healthily - start a food diary! (Starting tomorrow - when I've finished this bar of chocolate.)

3. Let's get on top of work! Make a play list of songs that don't focus too heavily on lyrics, then you can be motivated without getting distracted. :)

4. Be independent. You don't need to talk to that guy/girl 24/7 to be good friends - you'll only end up resenting them!

5. Start a diary/blog/twitter/post-it note regularly. I'm a fan of post-it notes myself :) Writing a little about your day helps you to keep on top of your emotions - they can be confusing sometimes! If you're stuck, try starting off just writing one thing that went well today and one thing that didn't go so well.

6. It sounds weird, but smile at yourself in the mirror. As a girl, I know we look in mirrors at least once a day, so try smiling at yourself! If you see yourself happy, it's easier to feel happy :) If this is too weird for you, make sure you know what you like about your face, and take a second to focus on that. It should make you feel good about yourself, because let's face it, you're beautiful!

7. Do some exercise everyday. Even if it's just a couple of star jumps in your room, or a short walk to the park - exercise is exercise! Doing something energetic helps you feel like you've achieved something in your day, because it's easy to feel like you haven't, especially if you've have a very routine day.

8. Acknowledge the things that made you happy today. Did you hear something funny, or a see something that made you smile? weheartit.com has some really inspirational pictures and quotes that make me smile if you've had a really rubbish day ;)

9. Say thank you for something. Just a little thank you to God or yourself for remembering to bring an umbrella on a day when it rained is good enough.

10. Keep an up-to-date calendar so that when life feels rubbish, you can look forward to the fun things on there! Alternatively, plan something fun for every week. A simple trip to a coffee shop with a friend can make the world of difference when you've had a bad week.

Hope this list was helpful to anyone who stumbles across this blog. :)

Talking of stumbling across things, while Google-ing 'what am I doing with my life?' the other day, I stumbled across this article:
It explains a model for taking control of your life, step by step. I've been pretty much all over the place at the moment and it made a lot of sense to me, perhaps it will make sense to you too.

Today's thank you: Thank you Internet for taking my ideas and flinging them into the huge web that is you.

and thank you for reading this. :)
x
